In YIK, we emphasize the importance of reading. Every day, during Story Time, English-speaking instructors read aloud to the children. Picture books help the children to develop vocabulary, explore the world and its many cultures and establish a sense of the English language.
A language-rich environment that encourages the appreciation of books, naturally invites curiousity and stimulates the imagination of young learners.

Each classroom has a “book corner” which is stocked with English picture books suitable for the children in that class. The children are free to choose and enjoy from a wide selection of books.

In addition, Zoo-phonics enables children to recognize letters and put shapes and sounds together, at a very early stage in their learning. This ability excites young learners and makes them eager to read on their own. At YIK, we believe that a love of books and reading is a gift that will last a lifetime.

YIKでは、外国人講師によるストーリータイム（絵本の読み聞かせ）が
毎日行なわれます。各教室のブックコーナーには、年齢や季節、
毎月のテーマに合わせた英語絵本がたくさんありますので、
子どもたちは自由にこれらの絵本を楽しむことができます。
さらに、子どもたちは、Zoo-phonicsをきちんと段階的に学ぶことにより、
自分で本を読むことができます。
在園中はもちろんYIK卒園後も、本を読むことによって、ボキャブラリーを
増やし、他国の文化に触れ、英語を身につけることができます。
